The following information provides a general set of guidelines for applicants as well as an outline of the criteria the Board of Trustees will be looking for in selecting scholarship recipients.
Application Guidelines
- Applicant must be between the ages of 17 and 23.
- Applicant must be living in out-of-home care or have been emancipated from out-of-home care due to state age limit. We understand that there are many unique situations. Generally, out-of-home care means living on your own or with a caregiver who is not an adoptive or natural parent. If you have questions about your eligibility, please contact us.
- Applicant must be unmarried and without children.
- Applicant must be either enrolled in, or accepted to an accredited post-secondary academic program.
Applicant must submit the following:
- Foundation application
- Two recommendation forms, one from a teacher and the other from a school counselor, care giver or foster care agency.
- High school transcript and an SAT or ACT score (if applicable). If you are already attending a post-secondary program, then the previous year's transcript is to be submitted. If you are in your first semester, please submit high school transcript, SAT/ACT score and mid-term grade report (if available.) If no mid-term report is available, please submit transcript showing current course enrollment.
- Copy of Student Aid Report (SAR) or current financial aid package if already attending college.
- Applicant must also apply for financial aid through the college or university.
- Applicant must participate in an interview by the Board of Trustees.
Selection Criteria
- The financial need of the student
- Academic performance
- Contribution to the school community
- Teacher and/or caregiver recommendations
- The information provided on the student application form, including the short answer and essay
